Profile – The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland joined Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, and Nyasaland into a single political and economic union in 1953, under the leadership of its first prime minister, Sir Godfrey Huggins, later succeeded by Sir Roy Welensky.
