Mr A.S. Chigwedere was born on 25 November, 1939 in the District of Hwedza. He passed through
Chigwedere, Chemhanza, Waddilove and Goromonzi Schools before registering for the
B.A . History Honours Degree at the then University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland from
which he joined the teaching profession in January 1965 at Fletcher High School. He rose through
the ranks to High School Headmaster, Deputy Regional Director of Education and Regional Director
up to his election to Parliament in April 1995.
In THE ABANDONED ADOLESCENTS the author blends history, culture, education and
administrative experience to produce what could be a BLUE-PRINT for Zimbabwean Education
for the 21st Century.
